A vintage inspired baby shower is a wonderful way to celebrate the impending arrival of a new little bundle of joy.  Full of lovely gifts and surprises for the new mum to be, it is also a great chance for all the girls to catch up.  With the guest list, games and food planned, how do you go about planning a vintage inspired baby shower theme?  See my hints and tips below to help you get started.

  1. String up a clothes line and hang it with baby clothes from wooden pegs.  This looks very cute and can double up as gifts for the new baby.
  2. A vintage crib with a handmade sign can be used for guests to drop presents in.
  3. Set up a dessert buffet on a vintage dresser.  Use an assortment of cake stands and fill them with delicious cup cakes with little coloured flags, cake pops and macaroons.
  4. String up pom pom garlands or bunting to decorate the whole room or a dessert or lolly table area.
  5. Vintage books make a great decoration and look really good with toy wooden blocks spelling out the baby’s name.
  6. Decorate the room with fresh flowers using teapots, crystal vases, vintage bottles or teacups.
  7. Place your guest’s old baby photos in jam jars and hang from a tree or ladder.  You could play a guessing game of “name the baby photo”!
  8. Fill a glass dispenser or jug with pink lemonade and serve in milk bottles with stripy straws, which look adorable.
  9. Hire a vintage dressing up box with photo props.  Have the girls to dress up in different hats and furs and take some memorable photos.  This is great fun and will keep everyone entertained!
  10. Instead of favours, set up an arts and crafts table for guests to make pretty hair clips or beaded bracelets.  Use lovely vintage ribbons and buttons.
